Terms and Conditions

1. Scope of Work & Access
Visibility: Estimates are based on visible conditions. Any concealed contingencies (structural obstructions, sub-surface rock, or hidden plumbing/electrical) or pre-existing code violations discovered during the project will require a Change Order.

Access: The client must provide clear access to the work area and ensure all utilities (water, gas, electric) are active. Failure to provide access may result in a standard Trip Charge.

2. Scheduled Service vs. Emergency Repairs

Standard Hours: Scheduled maintenance and non-emergency “Break-Fix” appointments are performed during standard business hours (Mon-Fri).

Emergency Rates: Any service requested outside of standard hours, or repairs requested during a maintenance visit that fall outside the original “Maintenance Scope,” will be billed at our prevailing Emergency/After-Hours Labor Rates

3. Warranties: Labor vs. Equipment
Workmanship: Pickwick provides a 1-year warranty on labor and the integrity of the physical connections we install.

Customer-Supplied Gear: No warranty is provided on equipment or fixtures supplied by the homeowner. If a customer-supplied unit fails, the manufacturer must be contacted for parts. Labor and diagnostic fees for removing/replacing defective owner-supplied units are the responsibility of the client.

Maintenance: Maintenance services (flushes/cleans) do not constitute a guarantee against future mechanical failure.

4. Existing System Integrity (The “Fragility” Clause)
Secondary Failures: Pickwick is not responsible for the failure of existing components (valves, gaskets, or aged piping) that are manipulated during service.

Pressure Changes: Repairing a leak or replacing a pressure-reducing valve (PRV) may restore a system to proper operating pressure. Pickwick is not liable for secondary leaks that occur in aged, pre-existing piping once the system is brought back to standard pressure.

5. Site Restoration & Invasive Work
Surfaces: Technicians may need to cut drywall, flooring, or ceilings to access plumbing. Patching, painting, and finish carpentry are specifically excluded from our scope of work unless itemized in writing.

Hazardous Materials: Pickwick is not responsible for the testing, abatement, or removal of hazardous materials (e.g., asbestos or lead paint) encountered during work.

6. Safety & Compliance
Mandatory Shutdowns: If a “Category 1” safety hazard (e.g., gas leak or cracked heat exchanger) is identified, code requires the equipment to be disabled or “Red Tagged.” Pickwick is not liable for loss of heat or hot water resulting from a mandatory safety lockout.

Permits: Unless explicitly itemized, all municipal permit fees and inspection coordination are the responsibility of the owner.

7. Payment & Performance

Payment is due in full on-site upon completion of the described work. If a repair requires specialized parts to be ordered, final payment will be collected upon final installation. Accounts unpaid after 30 days are subject to a 3% monthly service charge.

Delays: Pickwick is not liable for delays caused by weather, material shortages, or shipping delays beyond our control.
